Špela was surrounded with loops and yarns at the early age of five, when she was helping her grandmother to spin yarns and playing with colourful buttons that she found in the drawers of family owned knitting studio. After taking some distance to fashion by exploring the world in the following years, she grew up learning about arts as a design high school student, followed by graduating from fashion design academy in Slovenia.
During the years of study she was actively involved in organising various exhibitions and fashion shows in Slovenia and abroad, where together with her school colleagues she presented her work to the public. These projects inspired her to return to her grandmother’s old knitting machines and to start experimenting. Soon she discovered it to be her biggest passion and design challenge and has decided to completely dedicate her work to knitwear exploration.

Andreas has always loved to draw. He never went to school without his sketchbook, filling it up with cartoon characters. And in case he forgot his sketchbook, he used his school books as sketchbooks. During his design education in Holland, he got the change to become an exchange student for 6 months at the Designskolen Kolding in Denmark. Liking it very much, 6 months turned in to 2,5 years by completing his masters degree in graphic design in Denmark. Today Andreas works as a graphic designer.

Špela and Andreas met at a design academy in Denmark and moved together to The Netherlands. The married couple found it also fun and productive to work together. Špela has always wanted to start her own knitwear label and get a chance to work on what she loved to do, and Andreas was looking for something that would offer him complete creative freedom. They joined forces and Mimoods was born.
